11:07 pm - to update, or not to update.
i regret being too lazy to update frequently, but i do enjoy my time being lazy. i found out today that i have an offer letter for this new position at work i was hoping to get. well, not really a new position, but they're changing our job titles to reflect our business unit covering a 24/7 schedule. it's considered a promotion because our pay grades are going up. there was one days position available that i put in for. yay! kelly and i celebrated over layered cheese fries at outback-- yum. but life's been good. we just need to be careful about watching forensic files right before we go to bed. it gives kelly bad dreams, but i like it because it means more cuddling :)

my boss called me into his office today to discuss my annual performance evaluation. i've been anticipating this for awhile now since raises typically take effect may 1st. long story short, kelly's crab dining budget just increased 21%!

kelly's emptying the dishwasher and i just finished Power Paw™ing the blankets. just a typical evening in our household. the other day kelly was asking about my lack of lj updates. she mentioned how i'd regret not being able to look back and remember things-- even the little things like cleaning the cats fur off our new flypaper blankets.
so what's been happening lately? we'll start towards the end of the mario kart era, which just happened to be the beginning of the eBay era. since turning to selling stuff on eBay for easy cash (yes, easy is a relative term) we've profited by almost $5k. i'd give up my secret but then everybody would be rich and i'm obligated to be like those people on TV who say YOU COULD BE RICH but during the whole 4 hour segment mention absolutely nothing on how to do it.
the animal crossing era arrived shortly before our trip to hawaii, and of course we had to bring the wii with us to take full advantage of the money rocks and axe fountains. where maddy wandered off to during those hours of gameplay is anybody's guess. seriously though, hawaii was great and although it was the longest stretch i've stayed out of my previous visits, it felt like the shortest. accommodations are always top notch! i miss hearing "steeee". it's funny, after getting back and browsing around facebook to catch up on my friends, i realized how cute maddy really is compared to other babies! i like advertising maddy on my facebook photo.
throughout the month of march, animal crossing was growing more and more lackluster. i also found out i may be losing my day job. that is-- government leadership wants us to switch from being a 6am~4pm shop to being staffed 24/7. unfortunately, current world crisis calls for this change. i'm hoping i won't be involved in the switch to shift work (again), but doing so would add an extra 18% shift differential to my salary. we'll have to see what happens with this one. they're planning to have this change in place by june 1st.
kelly's brother introduced the next big event in our lives: the monopoly era! it didn't take long before we were too lazy to take out the board and pieces and count money and such-- but the addiction didn't stop there. enter monopoly for wii! now we just sit on the couch and rest while the game does all the work for us, but i have a feeling this won't last for long. i say this because... we're just dawning on the wii fit era!
oh yeah, you can insert becoming completely addicted to and losing sleep over Lost somewhere above. jacob says hi.

10:58 pm - the tiger came back! (well beyond the very next day)
KELLY'S HOME from OCONUS! i was so excited about her flying in today that i never went to bed last night. i eventually went into work at 2am because i knew when i got off i'd be picking her up. by 1:30pm, we were homebound.
also, when i got off work, my brother told me that our leasing office was trying to contact me. not knowing what to expect, i returned their call. long story short, when kel and i got home to our door, ( we found this ).
now that we've both spent some time back at home, we're beginning to realize something....
( we miss hawaii!! )

just to clear things up, i do not know who that other person is in kelly's journal.
i could go on for a long while about what's happened in the 6+ months i've been under a blanket, stuffed away in the closet held hostage by kelly only allowed out to play mario kart and fix the broken toilet-- but for now, lets talk about now! i'm 27, married to the lovely kelly reyes (ee!), have two feline children (see offer in the classifieds), and i work with a lot of people who love to bake! thankfully my figure has been well prepared for this kind of holiday indulgence (for me it's a year-round thing, you see). as the year comes to a close, i'd like to reflect on a few lessons learned:
putting boxers on backwards make it difficult to pee
there can never be just one laundry pile
kelly prefers chicken
nala prefers chicken egg foo young
any volume level over +5 is too loud for the wii
any volume level under +55 is too quiet for the matrix
the matrix has kelly
simba doesn't care that he's neutered
always pick up kelly on time!

once nice thing about my job is i get to adjust my schedule on a day-to-day basis. on days when kelly works early, i go to work at 7. on days when she has a late-morning class, i go to work at 9. and of course on days when kelly has a major final-exam school project due that counts for half her grade and despite being tasked weeks in advance decides putting it off to a state beyond the accepted standards of procrastination before rushing to throw it all together in a matter of hours and manage to still surpass her classmates in quality and presentation, i stay awake for 24 hours and go to work at noon.
so to sum things up, my job has a nice thing and i love my kelly to a point that i would do anything for her. <3
